Description

Reykjanes Peninsula is a UNESCO Global Geopark and part of the European and Global Geopark network. All day tour for everyone. We are going to visit the Reykjanes headland on the south-western part of Iceland. Here you will find the geothermal field Seltún and an old abandoned nearby farm called Krýsuvík. The temperature below the surface is 200 C! Next we visit lake between Sveifluháls and Vatnshlíð- KLEIFARVATN. It is about 97 m deep and it is one of the deepest lakes in Iceland. Next you will see Reykjanesviti, a dramatic coast line full of climbable cliffs and huge rocks in the sea, The Mid-Atlantic Ridge that crosses Iceland is an impressive rift between active continental plates- Europe and North America. The Bridge Between Continents, acts to symbolically connect the two land masses.
